A Bit About Me

Hello! My name is Sabrina, and I am 15 years old at the time of creating this youth organization! I am highly interested in neuroscience, and hope to provide resources for youth to get involved in STEM fields! When I was younger, I recall the lack of accessibility to neuroscience programs, events, and resources, especially for younger children due to the advanced nature these subjects were connoted with. However, I strongly believe that youth have the potential to learn all subjects regardless of difficulty level as long as they are provided the opportunities and are taught in an engaging way. I strongly believe that building youth communities of students who are motivated to excel in science are essential to building up strong networks for the future of STEM, and I strive to be apart of creating these communities.  I hope to provide opportunities for youth to immerse themselves in neuroscience in a fun, engaging, and forever memorable way. I aim to make a difference for the future of science.

If you would like to collaborate with my organization, or would like to book a show for your community or students, please contact me at mindtricksneuroscience@gmail.com!

Meet our Hong Kong Chapter Leader & Founder!

Avril Yi Qi Lim

My name is Avril and I'm a rising sophomore located in Hong Kong. I recently discovered the amazing organization, Mind Tricks, and am excited to Bring neuroscience-focused magic shows and educational programs to Hong Kong. Here in Hong Kong, we have a large and curious population of elementary and middle school students who don't have nearly enough opportunities to explore neuroscience in accessible, creative, interactive ways outside of the classroom. I truly believe that partnering with Mind Tricks in establishing this local chapter will be transformative for the youth in my community. I am honored to help coordinate the launch of a Mind Tricks Hong Kong chapter. I believe the hong kong community will be excited to get involved. As a long-term student at K-12 school myself, I have valuable insights into the needs and interests of the target age group that could inform local programs. I'm happy to organize community engagement that will help bring the magic of Mind Tricks to Hong Kong's youth. I am grateful for the incredible work of mind tricks and I'm truly inspired by the mission and am thrilled to expand mind trick’s reach globally.

Meet our Canada Chapter Leader & Founder!

Nika Bagheri

My name is Nika Bagheri and I am 16 years old from Canada. Teaching is one of my greatest passions and I enjoy sharing my knowledge with others. My love for science, especially neuroscience, has led me to be very interested in scientific activities in this regard. I am very eager to be able to describe the amazing function of the brain and nerves in the simplest way to young people who are looking for science through new methods and fun and attractive lessons! My goal is to become a doctor when I grow up so I would love to make neuroscience both accessible and enjoyable for kids. I'm excited to start the Mind Tricks chapter in Toronto, where I can connect with young students and spark their curiosity about neuroscience. I am very happy and grateful that I am traveling with you on this journey. I can't wait to see what we will discover together! :)

Meet our China Chapter Leader & Founder!

Coco Zhong

Hi, my name is Coco Zhong, and I’m a Y11 student in Hong Kong. My passion for neuroscience stems from a deep curiosity about the complexities of the brain and its profound influence on behavior and emotions. I’m really excited to open a new chapter in China and bring educational neuroscience-focused magic shows to China. In China, many primary school children do not have the opportunity to explore their interests in science outside of school, and students only start to learn science after they get to the middle school. I believe that magic tricks can illustrate fundamental neuroscience concepts, breaking down complex ideas into interesting and relatable experiences. This approach makes neuroscience both accessible and engaging for children. Ultimately, I aim to create a positive and playful learning environment, fostering a love for neuroscience that can inspire the next generation of thinkers and innovators.
